Joseph Guerriero lived with his family at 1025 W. 26th Street in Hialeah.  Born in NY, he moved to South Florida as a small child and attended James H. Bright Elementary. As a 6th-grader, he won a Citizenship Award from the Miami Springs Womans Club in 1961.  He graduated from Miami Springs Senior High with the Class of 1967.

After graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, and reported to Lackland AFB near San Antonio, TX for basic training. On October 1, 1968 he collapsed during calisthenics and died an hour later. He was 19.

Joseph was survived by his parents Mr. and Mrs. Joseph C. Guerrerio, Sr. and his brother Peter. Requiem services were held at Blessed Trinity and he is interred at Vista Memorial Cemetery.

If you have photos, memorabilia, or further information regarding Joseph or his family and their time in South Florida, please let me know, you can email to [email protected].
