CPL Robert Emmet Cain
Robert Emmet Cain lived in Miami Springs with his family from 1964-1968 and attended Miami Military Academy and graduated from Miami Springs Senior High Class of 1968.
After his father James Cain, an aircraft parts supplier, was killed in an auto accident in 1968, Robert moved with his family back to Leavittown, NY where he entered the Army and joined the Airborne, serving in “E” Co., 2/502nd Regiment, 101st Airborne Division. He was killed May 20, 1969 near Thua Thien, South Vietnam. He was 20 years old. Letters to friends in Miami indicated he had been in combat less than three days. CPL Cain was survived by his brothers, Edward E. Cain, and James J. Cain, and his mother Mildred. He buried at Long Island National Cemetery in NY, and is honored on the National Vietnam Memorial, at Panel 10W, Line 68.
